Highland Avenue Residence

The Highland Avenue residence is located within short walking distance in downtown Fitchburg and supports individuals with mental illness in separate bedrooms within the residence.

As with all of our community residences, the Highland Avenue program works with individuals to gain  & practice independent living skills and address identified individual issues needed to live in a more independent setting.

Consumers are expected to participate in all aspects of programming including individual treatment planning, psychosocial rehabilitation interventions, house meetings, household chores and responsibilities.

Participation in day programming and / or other community involvement is encouraged and individual preferences, in terms of services, are prioritized.

Services Offered

Individuals who live within the Highland Avenue Residence work as a group to maintain all aspects of community living.

Independent living skills are practiced on a daily basis with a focus on assisting individuals to learn the skills needed to move into more independent settings. Treatment plans are designed to address: individual issues, needs, independent skill development, practice, and community involvement.

Directions to Highland Avenue

From Boston: Take Route 2 West toward Fitchburg. Take the Merriam Avenue / South Street intersection to the next intersection (approximately 50 feet) keeping the Mobil station on your left. At this point, the entrance to Twin City Plaza is directly across the street from you. Turn left onto South Street, proceeding approximately 2 miles through a set of traffic lights, until you come to a "T" intersection where you must stop. Turn right, and go to the set of lights, getting into the left lane (about 200 feet). Go left over the bridge, but proceed to the right hand lane. Follow the road as it bears right, which allows you to merge with the lower end of Main Street. As you approach the double set of lights, proceed to the left lane. Go through the first light and take an immediate left at the second light onto Lunenburg Street/Route 2A. Take an immediate left onto Highland Avenue. Number 43 is the 3rd house on the right (large with yellow siding and a parking lot - pictured above).
